We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the residents who actively participated in the Police Awareness Session organized by our association on July 21, 2023. The event was a great success, and we are pleased to share a brief recap of the session for those who couldn't attend and as a reminder for those who did.
The objective of this session was to enhance our community's awareness and preparedness in light of recent Anti-Social activities reported in the surrounding areas. The Kothanur Police station, in response to our request, graciously conducted the session, providing valuable insights and guidance on how we can collectively contribute to our neighborhood's safety.
Key takeaways from the session:
Stay Informed: The police officials shared information about recent incidents of thefts and other anti-social activities in the nearby localities. By being informed about such incidents, we can better understand potential threats and take necessary precautions.
Vigilance and Reporting: Residents were urged to remain vigilant and observant of any unusual or suspicious activities in our neighborhood. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please don't hesitate to report it to the police immediately. Your timely information can make a significant difference in preventing criminal activities.
Emergency Contacts: 112 is now THE single number for all kinds of emergency, be it police, medical, fire or anything else. Especially for women and children safety. The app 112 is also available for easily accessing women safety features.
Some useful excerpts from 112 app to remember:
Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is a Pan-India single number (112) based emergency response system for citizens in emergencies. Each State/ UT is required to designate a dedicated Emergency Response Centres (ERC) to handle emergency requests. If you require emergency assistance from Police, Fire & Rescue, Health and other services, you may :
Dial 112 from your phone;
Press power button on your smart phone 3 times quickly to activate Panic call;
In case of feature phone, long press ‘5’ or ‘9’ key to activate Panic call;
In case of women and children, you can use 112 India mobile App to activate SHOUT feature, which alerts registered volunteers in vicinity for immediate assistance apart from activating ERC.
We would like to remind all residents that safety is a shared responsibility. By remaining vigilant, staying informed, and actively participating in community initiatives like this awareness session, we can collectively create a secure and peaceful environment for ourselves and our families.
If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out to the association or the Kothanur Police station.
